Panama has traditionally been a shopping destination for residents of neighboring countries because of its low prices and great selection of merchandise. In the Panamanian ‘Wal-Mart style’ discount stores, shoppers can find fashionable items like kid’s slippers and other clothes for 99 cents, shoes, men’s dress shirts and women’s blouses from $3, jeans from $8, etc. You can find double beds with foam mattresses for under $200 as well as solid wood luxurious furniture design pieces for a portion of the North American prices. Electronics are slightly more expensive than in Canada or the USA but you could buy locally a new Land Rover LR3 V8 SE Diesel for half the Canadian price.
