Applied Ecology

Filed under: - Posted on 18 November 2009

Strict ecologists have said that the ultimate ecological residence would be a hammock tied to two existing trees. Since this option would not realistically fit the needs of the contemporary societies, developers and builders, that are committed to saving the environment, must find appealing solutions for potential buyers that have a minimum negative impact on the environment. It is not acceptable to go with what’s “hip” and focus on appearing to help the ecology instead of actually doing something ecological.

Up until two years ago, Panama had a population of only 3 million people, half of which resided in the capital. Three years ago, when Panama was voted the number 1 retirement destination in the world, numerous North Americans and Europeans started purchasing retirement properties in Panama, many near the beaches and mountains. This caused an unprecedented construction boom. It is expected that the population of Panama will double within 5 years.

Our Concept of Ecology

Our Concept of Ecology encompasses the following areas

1. Minimal land movements. We use the natural contours of the land to manage the rain waters by directing them from the rolling hills to the creeks and then towards the river that pushes them out of the property without allowing potential floods due to clogged sewage systems.

2. No asphalt, cement or other toxic substances are used on the roads and infrastructure.

3. Special plumbing that results in the waste materials being 100% recyclable without any toxic output in the environment.

Panama: Live a Better Life for Less

A while back, you had registered at PanamaGardens.com to receive information about Panama and our community. In October of 2009, we are starting the sales of our ecological residences.

In the new design, we increased the common areas and facilities while reducing the number of homes in the community. We increased the size of the lots so that all our homes can have vegetable and flower gardens. We eliminated almost all the duplex residences with the exception of a single family that may decide to build two homes in one lot.
