There are three telecommunication companies providing phone service and two international tel-coms offering cell phone service with several more coming in. There are four large ISP’s and more than 10 wireless internet service providers. With all the competition, costs for phone and internet service remain comparable with the North American providers.

Since the internet backbone for Central and Latin America originates in Panama, the reliable internet service is also used for commercial applications. Many multinational corporations have chosen Panama to establish their call centers.
