Panama has a decent public education system that is free of charge and many good private schools with tuition fees around $200 per month or less. Most of the private high schools have admissions agreements with North American Universities. There are also about 80 Universities. While most of these cater to the locals, there are a few that are affiliated with prestigious international Institutions. Many people in Panama speak English. It is part of the regular curriculum in all high schools while many schools are offering a bilingual or strictly an English curriculum.
Panama is a truly a multicultural hub. Foreigners are not looked upon as ‘immigrants’ as in countries like Canada, the USA and the EUC. Foreigner residents are considered the ruling class. Panama has economically powerful ethnic communities that coexist peacefully. We find strong communities of Americans, Canadians, Jews, Chinese, Hindus, Arabs, Greeks, Italians, Dutch, Belgians, Germans, Russians and Japanese to name just a few. A lot of the communities have their own churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and schools with some courses in their own language.
